Hi James, A quick update on the case of the mysterious broken link. Having run OpenVPN for about four weeks now I'd say that when I'm using kernel 2.6.0-test5 there's between about a 25% and 35% probability that the link will die permanently (or at least until manual intervention:) when the nightly DHCP renegotiation takes place. However I'm now using kernel 2.4.22 at both ends of the link and it hasn't died with this configuration. It's only four nights but that's more than it ever did with 2.6.0 at the UK end of the link. This is still with OpenVPN 1.5-beta9. When I get some more mileage under my belt with this setup (say the end of the week) I'll switch to -beta14 if that's still the release candidate. Looks good James. 73, Ged. PS: Paul - yes, I'm running OpenVPN through firewalls. Although James and I both originally suspected firewall problems, Im sure there's no problem there (three of them in this case). Check the list archive of this thread for more details. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On Wed, 5 Nov 2003 James Yonan wrote: > I suppose it's just a matter of time before someone suggests > tunneling IP over SMTP :) I thought about a length of string and a couple of bean cans, just to show it could be done... :) ____________________________________________ Openvpn-users mailing list Openvpn-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/openvpn-users |
