[Openvpn-users] DHCP and tap

Hello all,

Thank you for the program (esp. secure ethernet bridging)! I have got a
problem that is only partly related to ovpn:

I am looking for a mechanism to match a bridged client's identifier to offer to
him a fixed dhcp lease accross the tunnel. (The IP address should be fixed due
to some scripts relying on a fixed IP address). Unfortunately, the TAP devices
change their MAC addresses all the time. Moreover, they are different in linux
and XP. Last but not least, only known clients should get a lease.

I tried to exploit the dhcp-client-identifier option, which overrides the match
via the MAC Address, and it works fine with the exception of the XP operating
system where this option does not seem to be there. Does anyone know a solution
that is easier than setting up static IP/netmask/resolv/etc on every client/tap
that I want to use?

Regards,

Paul
