Thats ok, what about shutting down incoming traffic from would be hackers on the modem? Essentially what I need to do is only allow packets in and out via the VPN and lock out the rest of the world. (in windows land )

Ah, I misunderstood the direction of the problem.  In that case what I use is Windows XP's firewall, with only the OpenVPN port exposed.  Since OpenVPN is the only software listening to that port and none other is exposed, the incoming interface is protected.  If you're using Windows 2000 I'd use ZoneArlarm, recommended by another list member.  It's free and it works very well.  In either case, your solution is a firewall.
