"Hide extensions for all known file types" is evil and the first thing I
change on any new Windows system. Not only does it lend itself toward the
type of error noted here, it makes technical support via phone a royal
pain. To change it, in Windows Explorer, go to: Tools, Setting, View.
There are other "useful" default settings in there that I usually cange
as well. ^.^
