I know this is a little off topic....

For those interested....

The military uses a pin code to access a pki certificate that can be
loaded ( this is not done by default) onto your ID. DoD (Department of
Defense) IDs are just smart cards with a picture and some extra info.
This can be used for an endless array of things. Currently I know they
are trying to have you login into all DoD websites with your ID. They
have also tested it for access to secure areas as well as simply
tracking where and when you have been.... They even want to store
service & medical/dental records on this card.
