Hi, I'm running SuSE linux with Openvpn Beta10 (kernel 2.4.20, SuSE 8.2). I just thought I'd note this. I tried to run the client (not the server) with the user and group parameters set. This did not work out. Instead I got: Aug 4 18:23:47 openvpn[4636]: Note: Cannot open TUN/TAP dev /dev/net/tun: Permission denied (errno=13) Aug 4 18:23:47 openvpn[4636]: Note: Attempting fallback to kernel 2.2 TUN/TAP interface Aug 4 18:23:47 openvpn[4636]: Cannot open TUN/TAP dev /dev/tap0: Operation not permitted (errno=1) Commenting out the user and group params solved this issue. I'm not sure was wrong. I tried to create a simple openvpn user and group and run openvpn as that uid/gid, but that didn't help. I might note that the server also runs SuSE 8.2 w/o any problems.
