Well, last night I got Openvpn running between home and work. I had to
remember to open port 5000 on my Linksys router at home!
I can "log in" to my home computer from work and even map the drive. I get
decent access times even. I can search and SEE my work computer, but can
not log in to it. Maybe some Win2K Server geniuses out there?
At the work end, my internet connection goes directly to a computer we'll
call "ACCESS". It has two NIC's. One to the internet, one to the internal
net (and OK, a TAP device too...). We use "ACCESS" as our internet
connection and firewall (only by virtue of the isolation of the two
networks). Openvpn is running on this box. It is our work DHCP server if
anyone cares. It is running Win2K Server.
Our DOMAIN controller sits next to it. Our login auth for ACCESS comes from
DOMAIN. In the END I want to connect to DOMAIN, but I don't know how to
"route" port 5000 on Win2K Server on ACCESS so it goes to DOMAIN.
So -- two questions. Any thoughts on why when I get the login popup at home
for work it says I can't login (I may not have permsssion? I've tried the
administrator login even and get the same message). If I use my normal
login it says it has already tried since that is what I'm logged into on my
laptop anyway.
Number two -- I assume I REALLY want Openvpn running on DOMAIN. But how do
I set up ACCESS to pass the port 5000 stuff through?
Thanks
