I have tried turning off both firewalls. Right now they are

on again (with the proper holes of course). The routing tables also
seems to be OK (see below). Do you see anything wrong in the
configs?
No i did not see anyhting in the configs, but i wonder a bit why
there are
4 lines with 255.255.255.255 in the bottom of the routing table
Anyway, try using a network sniffer and follow the packets.

I have used ethereal now and I still cannot get any further.
from the
client side pings go out and show up on the server. (ping request +
reply)
The requests from the server don't show up on the client.
Allright, please try this:
Let the server start pinging the client, and let it keep doing that.
On the server snif all the network interfaces one at a time, and see
if there is any ping traffic. See if the packets are actually sent
out over
a network interface, and which interface.
