on my OpenVPN server, this is what my routing table looks like:

The other hosts involved need some reason to send packets to the
openvpn server in the first place.  If it is already the default
gateway for the network this will happen by itself.  If not, you
either need routes on all the other machines to make them send
to 10.8.x.x through the openvpn server instead of the default
router or the existing default router needs that route added.
